SIRIVANNAVARI Women in Art, Autumn/Winter 2024

a la une, Fashion

by Alexandra MAS

The Parisian fashion week serves as a captivating rendezvous with visionary designers. These avant-garde entities not only redefine consumerism but also uphold integrity in their craft. Fashion, aspect of our daily lives, serves as our outward expression, our visible identity, now imbued with a revitalised philosophy. Today, it embraces a narrative where quality, traditional textures, and semi-couture reign supreme within collections.

Across centuries, nobility has epitomised enduring elegance and safeguarded a certain symbolism, where each gesture and element exuded rationale and curated aesthetics. This fusion of age-old traditions with contemporary feminine empowerment serves as a wellspring of inspiration for HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, the Creative Director, and Founder of the esteemed SIRIVANNAVARI brand. Her exploration delves deep into the interplay and harmony between the human form, its sensual contours, and the profound belief that the art of couture is on a noble mission. It’s a mission to empower women, enabling them to embrace and confidently express their individuality.

“In the pursuit of making dresses adapted to the wearer’s body like WOMAN IN ART, during my systematic research, I rediscovered the art and means of draping, realizing the symbiosis of practicality and poetry, of pragmatism and luxury, of the theatricality of the runway with the utility of ready-to-wear. This is the idea of the collection, the woman who lives two lives, working and alluring,”

HRH Princess Sirivannavari recalled the starting point in the development of the collection.

In its third season gracing the official Parisian fashion week calendar, the brand continues to captivate with its fusion of Thai expertise  and the unique contemporary allure of the unmistakable touch of luxury and refinement. Traditional draping techniques and radiant sunburst patterns to cascading folds, are meticulously tailored to accentuate the feminine silhouette. Luxurious materials such as leather, wool, satin, and denim, in a harmonious palette of burgundy, grey, black, and blue, lend an air of regal sophistication to every piece.

The artisans at the Sirivannavari atelier once again showcase their virtuosic craftsmanship, weaving Princess’ artistic vision into exquisite embroideries. Her intricately crafted floral motifs, inspired by a myriad of Thai flowers including Siamese melodorum, ylang-ylang, cape gardenia, cork tree flower, and champaca, bloom within a kaleidoscope of colors, adorning the creations with mesmerizing beauty. These expressions of savoir-faire manifest in irresistible 3D vinyl appliqué flowers, meticulously adorned with paillettes, beads, crystals, and other luminous embellishments, creating a captivating interplay of textures and depth.

As a crowning touch, the bijoux collection, boldly inspired by the Cubism and Dada art movement, beckons as objects of desire. Necklaces, bracelets, and rings feature gold settings adorned with white ceramic fragments, evoking captivating visages reflecting the designer’s signature codes. Complementing the ensemble are structured leather bags, exquisitely embellished with refined golden clasps, available in versatile formats such as Tube-Bucket and Satchel-Saddle, promising to elevate any outfit with effortless sophistication.
