The 3rd edition of the Artivist Awards Biennale Venezia unfolded at the historic Palazzo Pisani Revedin under the evocative title “PATHs.”
Produced by DeFine Art, Shim Art, and Mas Tassini Studio, this impactful exhibition, conceived by Alexandra Mas in 2020, was presented during the Venice Biennale 2024, aligning seamlessly with the prestigious event’s global artistic discourse.
This edition, co-curated by Hohenthal und Bergen and the SHIM Art Network, embodies a collective artistic vision centered on the theme “Foreigners Everywhere,” a conceptual alignment with the 60th International Art Exhibition’s exploration of identity, belonging, and globalization. Through the diverse narratives of participating artists and collectives, the exhibition offers profound reflections on these urgent themes.

One of the exhibition’s cornerstones is the group piece, imagined by Peter Hopkins, “PATHs – Postcards to Venice,” an 8-meter installation that serves as a collective manifesto, integrating the voices of artists and participants worldwide, immortalized through hundreds of signatures. This installation traveled from NY to Mexico City before arriving to Venice.

The Artivist Awards celebrate the power of militant art—art that challenges social and ecological injustices. The event will honore on November 2nd, Dodi Reifenberg with the 2024 Artivist Lion, recognizing his lifelong dedication to socially conscious art.
Notable past laureates, Bernard Garo and Nana Dix, also return to this year’s program, with Garo screening his acclaimed award-winning film, “Tabula Rasa”, and Dix presenting her masterpiece inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven.”
The exhibition also features a pioneering AI art experiment titled “Who’s Afraid of AI,” drawing participants from over a dozen nations and offering public panel discussions on the evolving role of AI in art.
This edition’s celebration of Militant Art and groundbreaking technologies marks a significant contribution to the Biennale’s dialogue on art, society, and the future. From critical environmental films to interactive installations, PATHs is a compelling journey through diverse creative expressions that culminates in a powerful reflection on the globalized world.
